Paamiut (Frederkshab), Greenland

Paamiut, formerly Frederikshab, is a town in southwestern Greenland. People have lived in the Paamiut area since around 1500 BC. The trading post of Frederikshaab was established by Jacob Severin's company in 1742 and named in honor of the Crown Prince Frederick. The community prospered on trading fur and whale products. It also became known for its soapstone artists. The town has one of the finest churcehs in Greenland, built in 1990 from wood in the Norwegian style.

Grundarfjordur, Iceland

Grundarfjorour is a small town, situated in the north of the Snaefellsnes peninsula in the west of Iceland. The site is characterized by a unique climate and unusually beautiful surroundings. The town is considered unusually beautiful and well-kept and has received several awards for its neat appearance. The geology of Grundarfjorour spans the entire geological history of Iceland. Volcanic activity is thought to have begun here about 18 million years ago. The volcano “Rauoukula i Helgrindum” is about 3000 years old. The opportunity to enjoy natural beauty in such peaceful surroundings is considered ideal by those who normally have to cope with the noise and bustle of city life. The town is probably the only one in the world where the building authorities have provided allotments for the "hidden people" or elves.

Husavik, Iceland

Husavik is a town situated in Norðurþing Municipality, northeastern Iceland. Skjálfandi bay gives the opportunity to watch multiple species of whales that inhabit there, while there is the Husavik Whale Museum in the centre of the town. The wooden church Húsavíkurkirkja built in 1907 is a popular tourist attraction.

 

Qaqortoq, Greenland

Qaqortoq is a town in the Kujalleq municipality in southern Greenland. It is the most populous town in southern Greenland and the fourth-largest town on the island. Tourism is a significant contributor to the economy of the town. The Great Greenland Fur-house is a popular tourist attraction. Tourists are offered year-round activities such as kayaking, hiking, whale-watching, cross-country skiing, and boating.

Nuuk, Greenland

Nuuk is the capital and largest city of Greenland. It is the seat of government, as well as the country's largest cultural and economic center. Tromso, Norway

Tromsο is the largest city and the largest urban area in Northern Norway, where occurs the phaenomenon of the Midnight Sun from about 18 May to 26 July. The city centre of Tromso contains the highest number of old wooden houses in Northern Norway. The Arctic Cathedral, a modern church from 1965, is probably the most famous landmark in Tromsο. The city is a cultural centre for its region and several festivals take place during the summer.
