More than an escape from everyday life, but a deeper immersion into it; this journey sets you on a captivating current connecting Miami to Barbados. Floridian fun times begin in finger-on-the-pulse Miami and move to Hemingway's quirky Key West, the last in the string of laid-back, coral-reefed cays. On volcanic Virgin Gorda we seek the Baths on its southernmost tip, where natural boulders between two beautiful sandy bays create a labyrinth of shallow pools connected by little ladders and walkways, whilst jungly Antigua's maritime history and myriad fine restaurants are complemented by colourful, craggy Martinique, Gauguin's inspiration, with its wide sweeping beaches and fusion of French history and habits with West Indian tropicality. Arriving at sunrise, we fall into the Bajan rhythm in Bridgetown, switching between the Atlantic rollers crashing against the eastern shore and the more manicured west, which casts an altogether different sun-soaked spell.
