Introducing the Icon Class Ship "Hero of the Seas"
“Introducing the New Star of Family Vacations”
MIAMI, March 30, 2026 – Royal Caribbean has unveiled Hero of the Seas, the fourth ship in its groundbreaking Icon Class, marking a new chapter in family vacations at sea. The new cruise ship is expected to begin sailing from Miami in August 2027, offering an even more advanced experience for families seeking a combination of relaxation, entertainment, and adventure.
As the newest member of the Icon Class — a category that blends the feel of a seaside resort, a theme park, and a luxury cruise — Hero of the Seas is set to raise the bar even higher. Across its 8 themed neighborhoods, guests will find the most pools ever featured on a cruise ship, 28 dining options, cooking classes for all ages, new family waterslides, and new accommodation options designed for larger families, including the impressive three-story Ultimate Family Treehouse.
Bookings for Hero of the Seas will be available soon, while members of the Crown & Anchor Society loyalty program will have the opportunity to book starting Wednesday, April 1, ahead of the official opening of bookings on Thursday, April 2.
“The Icon Class truly set a new standard for family vacations, and Hero of the Seas takes that vision even further,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean. “With more water play, more action, and even more options for all ages, we continue to evolve Royal Caribbean’s philosophy by investing in everything our guests love and delivering the experiences families are looking for when they travel together.”
More ways to cool off and have fun
Travelers will be able to enjoy 9 different pools, the most ever featured on a cruise ship, including family spaces, a new Caribbean-inspired pool, 3 adults-only options, the largest swim-up bars at sea, and much more.
Hero of the Seas will introduce Coconut Cove, a brand-new pool just steps away from the tropical bar The Lime and Coconut. With in-water loungers and poolside service for refreshing drinks, travelers will be able to relax while enjoying the view of the lush greenery of the Central Park neighborhood.
The adults-only area, Hideaway Beach, is getting an upgrade and will now feature 2 pools, including the largest swim-up bar at sea for tropical cocktails, as well as an in-water DJ booth for a nonstop party vibe.
Favorite experiences return refreshed, offering even more space for cooling off and unwinding at the upgraded Swim & Tonic pool and swim-up bar, exclusively for adults. Meanwhile, Splashaway Bay, the water park for young children in the family-friendly Surfside neighborhood, is being enhanced with new water features that take playtime even further.
More adventure
Adventure aboard Hero of the Seas reaches new heights, with even more dynamic experiences for the whole family. At Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea, guests will have the chance to try 2 new family raft slides, including the first funnel raft slide ever introduced on a ship. At the same time, exciting new variations will also expand the well-known racing slide experience, Storm Chasers.
For those looking for even more adrenaline, Crown’s Edge combines a skywalk and zip line into one thrilling experience, 154 feet above the ocean, while the popular FlowRider invites guests of all ages to test their skills on the surf simulator. Families will also be able to enjoy friendly competition at the Adrenaline Peak climbing wall, Lost Dunes mini-golf, and sports courts for pickleball, basketball, soccer, and other activities.
More dining options
Hero of the Seas offers the most family dining options in Royal Caribbean’s fleet, with a total of 28 venues showcasing flavors from around the world and unique interactive experiences.
Among the new arrivals is the Orleans Parish Supper Club, offering a distinctive multi-course dining experience with live jazz, craft cocktails, and refined Cajun and Creole dishes inspired by the elegant atmosphere of New Orleans’ French Quarter in the early 20th century.
Another new concept is Royal Railway - Hero Station, one of the most impressive dining experiences at sea, combining entertainment, technology, and themed cuisine to transport guests on a journey inspired by different destinations.
In the family-friendly Surfside neighborhood, a new venue — to be revealed soon — will host interactive cooking classes where children and adults can discover basic and more advanced culinary techniques together, from fun and creative recipes for kids to lessons focused on ingredient preparation and baking.
The AquaDome Market also returns refreshed, with 4 new culinary concepts, sweet creations at Crème de la Crêpe, and freshly squeezed juices at Simply Pressed.
The ship’s full dining lineup will also include beloved Icon Class favorites, such as sushi at Izumi and Izumi in the Park, family-style Italian dishes at Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, premium cuts at Chops Grille, and fresh seafood at Hooked Seafood. In addition, guests will be able to enjoy quick and easy options included in the fare, such as burgers and tater tots at Basecamp, Mexican flavors at El Loco Fresh, and pizza at Sorrento’s.
More family accommodation options
Hero of the Seas offers more accommodation options than ever, allowing families to enjoy comfort, style, and flexibility for every kind of getaway.
Among the most impressive accommodations is the Ultimate Family Treehouse, a three-story suite designed especially for families, combining comfort, functionality, and distinctive style. It features a rooftop terrace with a private whirlpool, a two-level teen space, and two primary bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and private balcony.
Families will also be able to choose from a range of accommodations designed specifically for their needs, such as the three-story Ultimate Family Townhouse with direct access to the Surfside neighborhood, the Surfside Family Suites, and the Family Infinite Ocean View Balconies.
For those seeking a more elevated hospitality experience, the Royal Loft Suites and Icon Loft Suites offer comfort, spaciousness, and premium sea views. At the same time, the Interior Plus and Sunset Suites are ideal options for travelers who want to enjoy a comfortable and functional stay before the next day of adventure begins.
Icon Class signature experiences return
Some of the most iconic features of the Icon Class are also returning aboard Hero of the Seas, creating a complete vacation experience at sea. From the Royal Promenade neighborhood, with its restaurants, bars, stunning panoramic ocean views, and the impressive Pearl — the world’s largest kinetic art sculpture, designed to mimic the movement of waves in the ocean breeze — to the open-air Central Park, with more than 30,500 real plants, dining venues, and service spots for sushi, champagne, and even more culinary options, the ship promises standout experiences throughout.
At the same time, entertainment will take center stage, with new productions at the Royal Theater, the iconic AquaTheater, and Absolute Zero, the largest ice arena at sea, as well as venues dedicated to live music throughout the day and night.
7-night Caribbean cruises from Miami starting in August 2027
Hero of the Seas will operate 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises departing from Miami, and every itinerary will include a stop at Royal Caribbean’s premier private destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.
