Skarsvag, Norway

Skarsvag is a small fishing village in northern Norway, on the island of Magerøya, near the North Cape, which is considered the northernmost point in Europe accessible by vehicle. It is the world’s northernmost permanently inhabited settlement, with only a few dozen residents who rely mainly on fishing and tourism. Despite its small size, Skarsvåg attracts travelers who wish to visit the North Cape or experience the stunning natural environment, with the midnight sun in summer and the northern lights in winter.

 

Tromso, Norway

Tromsο is the largest city and the largest urban area in Northern Norway, where occurs the phaenomenon of the Midnight Sun from about 18 May to 26 July. The city centre of Tromso contains the highest number of old wooden houses in Northern Norway. The Arctic Cathedral, a modern church from 1965, is probably the most famous landmark in Tromsο. The city is a cultural centre for its region and several festivals take place during the summer.
