Icon Class – The Future of Cruising

The Icon Class marks a new era in modern cruising, bringing unmatched experiences, innovative design, and sustainability to the forefront. These ships are not just vessels – they are floating cities of adventure, relaxation, and luxury, designed to deliver unforgettable holidays for every traveler.

Icon of the Seas, the first ship in the class, forever changed the world of cruising, offering neighborhoods full of thrills, incredible pools, and spaces that combine adventure and relaxation for all ages. Star of the Seas, following the same vision, raises the bar even higher with more entertainment options, global dining experiences, and world-class shows that rival the planet’s greatest stages. Soon to follow is Legend of the Seas, ready to write its own story with bold innovations and new experiences that will shape the future of cruising. In the summer of 2026, Legend of the Seas will sail in Europe with unique itineraries from Barcelona to Italy and from Italy back to Barcelona, bringing the revolution of Icon Class closer than ever to European travelers.

Whatever “family vacation” means to you — a getaway as a family, as a couple, or with friends — all three ships feature groundbreaking innovations alongside enhanced favorites for everyone. With more activities than ever to get your adrenaline pumping — including the largest waterpark at sea — plus unrivaled ways to unwind with infinite ocean views and a pool for every day of the week, you’ll also enjoy a blend of 40 new and returning restaurants, bars, nightlife venues, and world-class entertainment.

The ships come alive day and night across eight distinct neighborhoods:

Thrill Island – Push your limits with record-breaking adventures, including Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea. Highlights include Pressure Drop, the first open freefall slide at sea with a 66-degree incline; Frightening Bolt, the tallest drop slide at sea; Storm Surge and Hurricane Hunter, the first family raft slides at sea; and Storm Chasers, the first mat-racing duo at sea. Add the jaw-dropping Crown’s Edge — part skywalk, part zip line — and you’ve got adventure like never before.

Chill Island – Four of the ship’s seven pools are here, spread across three decks. Each offers ocean views and a unique vibe: Swim & Tonic, the brand’s first swim-up bar; Royal Bay Pool, the largest pool at sea; Cloud 17, an adults-only retreat; and the infinity-edge Cove Pool. The Lime & Coconut Bar returns at four locations, now featuring the brand’s first frozen cocktail bar.

Surfside – A neighborhood designed for young families, where adults can relax by the Water’s Edge Pool while watching little ones enjoy Splashaway Bay and Baby Bay. Nearby are family-friendly dining, play areas, a carousel, an arcade, Adventure Ocean for kids, and Social020 for teens.

The Hideaway – Perched 135 feet above the ocean, this chic retreat combines beach club vibes with the first suspended infinity pool at sea, surrounded by multi-level sun terraces, whirlpools, lounges, and its own bar.

AquaDome – A one-of-a-kind venue at the top of the ship. By day, a serene oasis with 360° ocean views and a breathtaking waterfall. By night, it transforms into a buzzing nightlife hub with dining, bars, and the signature AquaTheater shows featuring cutting-edge technology, robotic arms, projection, and a shape-shifting pool.

Royal Promenade – Now with floor-to-ceiling ocean views, more than 15 restaurants, cafés, bars, and lounges.

Central Park – A lush, open-air green space, offering more dining and entertainment options in a vibrant, natural setting.

Suite Neighborhood – Spanning three luxury-filled decks, complete with The Grove sun deck, private pool, whirlpools, and a two-story Coastal Kitchen restaurant.

Other favorites include Lost Dunes mini golf, the Adrenaline Peak climbing wall, Absolute Zero, the largest ice rink at sea, plus restaurants such as Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar on the Royal Promenade and Izumi Asian cuisine in Central Park.

With 28 unique stateroom categories, accommodations are carefully designed to suit every traveler. Families of three, four, five, or more will love options like the Family Infinite Balcony, the Surfside Family Suite, and the three-level Ultimate Family Townhouse, complete with its own mailbox and fence. For incredible views, the new Sunset Corner Suites and AquaDome Panoramic Ocean Views stand out.

Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas will sail year-round from Miami and Port Canaveral, offering 7-night vacations to the Eastern and Western Caribbean. Every itinerary includes a stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas, where guests can craft their ideal vacation day — whether that’s tackling the 13 waterslides of Thrill Waterpark, unwinding at Coco Beach Club with floating cabanas, or soaring in the Up, Up & Away helium balloon. Other highlights include tropical gems like Cozumel (Mexico), Philipsburg (St. Maarten), and Roatán (Honduras).

Legend of the Seas will make its inaugural voyage in August 2026, sailing roundtrip from Barcelona on 7-night Western Europe itineraries. Ports of call include Palma de Mallorca, Florence (La Spezia), Rome (Civitavecchia), and Naples, before returning to Barcelona. Select sailings will also depart roundtrip from Rome, visiting the same iconic ports.

The Icon Class doesn’t just offer holidays — it delivers complete journeys filled with thrills, luxury, and cutting-edge green technology powered by LNG and advanced energy efficiency systems.
