Around 350 BC, Greeks of Marseille founded a permanent settlement and called it Nikaia, after Nike, the goddess of victory.

The harbor of Portovenere, although the smallest of Liguria, in the summer season is always sold out and also host many celebrities.

Civitavecchia is a town and comune of the province of Rome. A sea port which is located 80 kilometres west-north-west of Rome. The harbor is formed by two piers and a breakwater, on which is a lighthouse.
