Campbell Island is a remote, uninhabited island of New Zealand and the main island of the Campbell Island group. It is surrounded by numerous rocks and islets like Dent Island, Folly Island. Campbell Island is inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage list. The island is part of the Campbell Island group Important Bird Area (IBA), identified as such by BirdLife International because of its significance as a breeding site for several species of seabirds.
Dunedin is the second largest city in South Island. It is known for its Victorian architecture, the alternative atmosphere, the excellent outdoor activities and the variety of wildlife including albatross, penguins and seals.
Enderby Island is part of the Auckland Islands archipelago in New Zealand. It is situated just off the northern tip of Auckland Island, the largest island in the archipelago. Macquarie Island lies in the southwest Pacific Ocean, about half-way between New Zealand and Antarctica. The island was declared as a World Heritage Site in 1997. The island is home to the entire Royal Penguin population on earth during their annual nesting season.
Stewart Island or Rakiura is the third-largest island of New Zealand. It lies 30 km (19 mi) south of the South Island, across Foveaux Strait. Its permanent population is slightly over 400 people, most of whom live in the settlement of Oban. Owing to an anomaly in the magnetic latitude contours, this location is well placed for observing Aurora australis.
The Snares, is a small island group lying about 200 km south of New Zealand's South Island and to the south-south-west of Stewart Island/Rakiura. The islands provide a home to endemic bird species. The area is designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Ulva Island is a small island which is part of Stewart Island in New Zealand. Ulva Island's relative isolation, but easy access from Stewart Island has allowed it to become an important natural resource area. It is a sanctuary for both birds and plants, holding species that on the mainland of New Zealand are rare or have died out.
