Alotau, Papua new Guinea

Alotau is the capital of Milne Bay province, in the south-east of Papua New Guinea. Alotau is not very large and the people are very friendly, so walking will give you a good chance to meet them. The local word for foreigner is DimDim, so if you hear children calling that after you it does not mean that they laugh at you.

The Tami Islands are a small island group located in the Huon Gulf, Solomon Sea. They are part of today's Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. Islanders are specializing in elaborately carved bowls. Dobo Island is the chief port of the islands and lies on Wamar, just off Tanahbesar.

Fergusson Island, Papua New Guinea

Fergusson Island is the largest island of the D'Entrecasteaux Islands, in Papua New Guinea. There are three large volcanoes on the island. Fergusson Island mostly consists of mountainous terrain covered by rainforests. There are also the Dei-Dei hot springs, where visitors can explore prehistoric steam vents, geysers, and salt deposits. Locals still cook in the tradition of their ancestors by preparing all meals in the boiling pools.

Madang, Papua New Guinea

Madang is a city on the north coast of Papua New Guinea. Industry and farming are growing constantly in importance, more for export to distant lands. There are the widespread coconut palm plantations on the coast. Madang is also the home of Divine Word University. The University accepts local and international students.

Rabaul, Papua New Guinea

Rabaul is a township in East New Britain province, Papua New Guinea. As a tourist destination, Rabaul is popular for scuba diving and for snorkelling sites and a spectacular harbour. 

Tuam Island, Papua New Guinea

Tuam island is located in the Siassi group of Islands, situated in Morobe province, Papua New Guinea. Morobe province is known as the gateway to the highlands, boasting majestic mountains and lush rainforests. The locals are very hospitable and welcome visitors with music and dance. Here you can do snorkelling and diving.
